The Fencing Club competed at the USACFC Nationals the weekend of April 8th in Lansing, Michigan. Dartmouth earned silver in the combined men’s and women’s 6-Weapon team awards, meaning that the whole team placed second in the nation. In addition, the Women’s team (3-Weapon) swept the competition with one gold and two bronze finishes, landing Dartmouth as the overall women's champion.
The squads contributed to these fantastic accolades. Women’s Foil won gold, and the Men’s Foil, Women’s Epee, and Women’s Sabre squads all earned bronze. Additionally, many individuals were promoted to and placed well in the individual rounds including Lily Ma ’17 WF (5th) , Phoebe Liang ’17 WF (7th), and Ellie Ng ’19 WF (8th), Carter Bartram ’18 MF (7th), Kaleigh Mentzer ’18 WS (gold), Ksenia Ryzhova ’17 WS (10th), Kate Royce ’19 WS (12th), Annie Yang ’17 WE (5th) , Jen Wu ’19 WE (15th), William Wolfe-McGuire ’19 MS (7th), and Josh Utterback ’17 MS (13th).
Adding to their fencing excellence, the team received the USACFC Spirit Award for their determination and passion and performing so well.
