Roger arrived in Hanover in 1990, and coached Dartmouth Men’s Hockey for seven years.  He has served as Director of Physical Education & Recreation since 1997.  Prior to 1990, Roger played and coached professional hockey in France and taught biology and physiology at the secondary school level as well as overseeing recreational sport programs.  He is a graduate of Yale and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned an MS in Exercise Physiology and was instrumental in the creation of the UW Sports Medicine Center in 1984.  Roger and his wife live in Etna, NH, and enjoy travel, fine food, golf, and a variety of snow and ice sports.

John Brady

John was a staff trainer and coach at Wildcat Mtn. Ski Area for over 25 years.  He is certified in the Alpine, Cross Country and Snowboard disciplines, and worked for the Eastern Division of Professional Ski Instructors of America as a Telemark Examiner.  He was an active member of New England Winter Sports Representatives for over 20 years, selling ski products at wholesale. John has extensive experience racing offshore and Etchells sailboats and was a licensed broker for Northrop and Johnson Yachts.  He is a graduate of UNH in Durham, and maintains a home in Newmarket, NH,  with his wife and daughter.

Joann Brislin has been at Dartmouth for over 17 years. She coached the Big Green Women’s swimming and diving for 10 years and has been the Director for Clubs Sports and Intramurals the past six years. Brislin is a graduate of the University of Washington where she served as Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming before moving to Hanover.

Heidi has worked for the College for 20 years in the Dean’s Office, the Financial Aid Office, and for the past 11 in Athletics & Recreation.  This is her first year with Physical Education & Recreation after having spent several years as the department’s computer support person and as a member of the Athletic Facilities Office staff.  Heidi is a native of the Upper Valley and enjoys coaching youth basketball and camping with her three children.

Carolyn Hooper Goetinck

Carolyn came to Dartmouth over 16 years ago with a diverse background in education, outreach, program development and administration, and facility operations and logistics.  As a professional in the fitness industry, she has been a FLIP personal trainer (CPT-ACE) at Dartmouth since the program began and is currently completing a fellowship in Functional Biomechanics and Applied Functional Science with the Gray Institute for Functional Training.  She is also a certified fitness specialist for older adults (Cooper Institute) and has trained with the Cancer Exercise Institute.  Carolyn graduated from the University of Michigan and completed her MS at the University of Montana.  She lives in Norwich, VT, with her two sons and enjoys a number of outdoor sports, including sailing, kayaking, and snowshoeing.  She is also a student of historical European martial arts, currently focusing on German longswords.

Hugh Mellert

Hugh has been the Fitness Director at Dartmouth College for 17 years directing the Fitness & Lifestyle Improvement Program (FLIP) and the Zimmerman Fitness Center.  Hugh is a graduate of Marshall University and Tulane University School of Public Health.   Hugh and his wife Barbara, who also works at Dartmouth in Computing Services, have two sons, Thom, a student at Hampshire College and Sam, a junior at Hanover High.  In the community he has served on the Board of the Hanover Conservancy for 12 years, the Town of Hanover Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee for 10 years, and is currently the President of the Connecticut Valley Babe Ruth Baseball League.
